Supporting the next generation of musical talent, Docks Academy will be ‘taken over’ by students of the Grimsby Institute for the 3rd year in a row, a collaboration which will give a platform to the students and allow them to perform in an established venue.

At this free event, which is open to all, the students will perform in front of a crowd and gain essential stage experience. The evening will feature bands of various styles and genres, and music will range from covers of popular rock and indie tracks to the students’ original music.

Docks Academy is delighted to be supporting the young music students of GIFHE and hopes our regular gig-goers will support this night of emerging North East Lincolnshire talent.

The line-up on the night:

Lacey “Quizity” Bird is a DJ specialising in the Hardcore and Drum and Bass EDM genres. Quizity likes to use her music to express herself and promote the dying sound of the EDM genre.

Back by unpopular demand… Smashed Avocado! It's been ten years since the break up due to musical similarities but now they are back, aiming to launch their 2nd shot at the big time, although this time it's the mid-80s! Prepare yourself for an 80s extravaganza! Well, it’s an 80s medley, played in a mediocre style by people who should stick to their day jobs...maybe the staff might see them this time?!?

Pretty Pretty Princesses is a college Level 3 band that specialises in songs throughout the decades, starting with songs from the 60s all the way to the 2010s.

The Amplifiers transform and reinterpret indie/rock music, infusing it with a contemporary essence that merges melodic harmonies with the vibrant voices of two vocalists. Central to their sound, is a robust rock foundation, propelled by an electrifying guitarist and a bassist who enriches the complex auditory experience. Their performances are crafted to resonate with audiences, featuring a selection of popular and recognisable tracks that possess universal appeal. In the early stages of their live performances, they are already achieved significant success in captivating audiences and delivering memorable experiences.

Teenage Burial - an experimental rap/nu-emo duo that focuses on the negative aspects of adolescence and puts a comedic and positive spin on it. Our project consists of Ak Ares, also known as 'Thebruhmaster' and Shawty Minaj, aka 'Yung Nightmare'. Our influences are Lil B, the based god, and Yung Lean. We have an extensive history in music production and hip-hopping, and we also have collaborations with rappers from the American underground, such as Adam Killa (real name Adam Kelly), who has worked with Yung Lean.

Bobby, Lucy and Betty - Three talented level 5 students showcasing their talents both individually and together on stage performing a range of different genres both with backing tracks and acoustically.

Giiiilllotine is a heavy metal band consisting of France Fevrier, the lead singer with heavy metal grunge vocals and lots of hair. Cameron, the piano player, playing beautiful melodic phrases that add beauty to the heavy dirty feel that is made by the guitars. Finally, France Winstone, the bass player ready to commit to the heavy sound that the full band needs, with a deep sound from his bass.

Ian is a final degree level student playing a short acoustic set of original material as part of a release for his Final Major Project.
