Our first Fresh Catch of 2025 features three bands making waves in our local area, pushing to the next level of their musical careers: Leon Blanchard, Shines, and Roulette (Formally Tides).

Leon Blanchard

Fresh from a statement live debut at the Grimsby Minster, The Tiny Giants are the latest invention of long-renowned local songwriter, Leon Blanchard.

Following on from countless years of touring & writing under The Brightlights, Vena Cava and Casanova, relentless work as a musician led to a collection of songs, destined only for a new project.

With Leon behind the piano, Jamie Craw, Tyler Pinder, Ellis Powles, Will Lord and Paul Grant bring these tracks to life as a 6 piece ensemble.

Shines

Since the release of their debut album, How It Ends, at the start of 2024, Grimsby-based band Shines have quickly made their mark on the UK music scene. With a series of high-energy live shows and festival appearances throughout the summer, the band’s tight onstage chemistry and growing fanbase have made them one of the most exciting new acts around. As the year winds down, Shines are hard at work recording new material set for release in early 2025. Don’t miss their final hometown show of the year!

Roulette

Self-described as overdriven and edgy. Roulette is starting out in the originals music scene with their debut single ‘B4 You’. For fans of ‘Paramore’, ‘Nothing But Thieves’, ‘Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes’ and ‘Arctic Monkeys’, Roulette will have you dancing and head-banging all night. Members include Ruby Judge (vocals/rhythm guitar), Sam Torrance (lead guitar), Spencer Fox (bass/backing vocals) and Harry Baslington (Drums/backing vocal). With songs about love, hate and friendship, theres no reason not to take a chance on Roulette.

Fresh Catch is all about giving people the opportunity to hear new artists when they’re starting out or to catch a band from another part of the country that is on the up. It’s an awesome feeling to stand back knowing you’ve been there from their first shows and witnessed their growth into a recognised talent in the music industry.

Fresh Catch is a Docks Academy project which has successfully secured funding from Arts Council England. This vital funding helps us deliver on our commitment to support emerging artists, develop grassroots music at Docks Academy, build our youth audience, and improve accessibility.
